Brittany and Willie were married on October 28th, with a ceremony at the Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and a wedding reception at The Metropolitan Room in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Willie and Brittany met at Texas Children Hospital, where Brittany was the nurse who cared for his infant niece. That’s a unique “how we met” story if I’ve ever heard one! Brittany stayed in touch with Willie’s sister, Kristi, and at a lunch date, Kristi brought up his picture to ask Brittany if she remembered her little brother. Right there, in the middle of lunch, Kristi called Willie. He promised to call Brittany after he was off work. With Brittany’s busy job, they had to play a little phone tag, but they finally connected. They continued to talk until they had scheduled a dinner date at the Cheesecake Factory. And from then on, they were hopelessly in love.
Brittany and Willie’s Metropolitan Room Wedding
On the day of the wedding, my second shooter, Jenn Ann, started out with Willie while I was with Brittany. This bride and groom are incredibly stylish and put a lot of effort into their wedding day looks. (Both for the ceremony and the reception!) We had a blast photographing all the details of the day. The ladies slayed, and the fellas were the very definition of dapper! And the décor was unbelievable, bringing real style to the whole day.
Given that style, then, the Metropolitan Room was the perfect wedding venue for Brittany and Willie. It has floor-to-ceiling windows with a great view of downtown historic Fayetteville and the market house. With guest amenities like a VIP room for the bride and groom and guest parking on site in their four-story parking garage, it’s not a surprise this is known as Fayetteville’s premier event venue. We weren’t hard-pressed to find elegant places for wedding portraits! As far as Fayetteville wedding venues go, the Metropolitan Room elevates the standard. Every corner has its own charm, from the cascading front staircase to the beautiful fountain. One of the most unique features at the Metropolitan Room is the bar itself, which is actually the old bank vault—it even features the old safe deposit boxes! This venue provided an amazing backdrop for Brittany and Willie’s unique style. The décor and florals from Creative TOUCH events were magnificent. As a wedding photographer, wedding venues like the Metropolitan Room are such a treat because each couple can personalize the ballroom with their own individual style.
In addition to the look of the day, I was impressed by the real emotion that ran through every moment. For example, Brittany’s father gave a toast during the reception that touched everyone who heard it. He gave Willie some words of affirmation that had Willie in tears—and the rest of us were emotional as well.
Brittany & Willie, thank you for allowing my team and me to document your wedding celebration. It’s an honor that I don’t take lightly. I wish you two all the best as you begin this journey of life together.
