“You can just photoshop that, right?” Or, “you can just retouch that, right?” It’s a question that has become so common that people offer the expression as the solution to something they deem to be a problem. Well, the truth is, yes, we can retouch that!
What is photo editing?
Photo editing is the process of editing images which commonly includes making adjustments to a photo’s color temperature, exposure, contrast, white point, black point, and saturation. These are global adjustments to an image.
The digital files you receive for your wedding and/or portrait session are edited to match what you’ve seen throughout our website.
What is the intent of photo editing?
Photo editing intends to improve the general quality and overall appearance of an image. Our team leverages Adobe Lightroom and/or Capture One to edit photos. The adjustments made here are typically global. More on this below.
What is photo retouching?
Photo retouching is the process of making changes to what appears in an image. Some common adjustments include removing blemishes, modifying waste lines, removing people and/or objects, reducing wrinkles in clothing, etc. These are pixel-level modifications.
What is the difference between photo editing and photo retouching?
Photo editing is the process of making global-level adjustments to an image, while photo retouching is the process of making changes to what appears in an image. Global adjustments modify everything in the image. Conversely, retouching manipulates specific pixels in an image.
