The history of the Chateau des Fleures

Located 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh in Barclaysville, Northeastern Harnett County, Chateau des Fleures, previously Barclay Villa, was built by Mr. and Mrs. John  Barclay in the early 1800s. The Barclays purchased 510 acres of land and built an Inn along the Old Stage Road, the main route from Raleigh to Fayetteville. Barclay’s Inn was known for its delicious food, Southern hospitality, and famous visitors, including the Marquis de Lafayette, who helped George Washington fight for independence.

Space

Chateau des Fleures is a perfect venue for a medium-sized wedding. It has both beautiful outdoor areas and an indoor ballroom with balcony seating. The outdoor area features a variety of picturesque spaces and plants, including a gazebo, a small pool with a unique fish-shaped fountain, an outdoor fireplace, and lush green trees and brush. The indoor Lector Corinna Grand Ballroom features a majestic staircase as well as king and queen chairs for the bride and groom.

The venue includes a bar area for mingling, a honeymoon suite, and even a billiards room for guests and wedding party members who enjoy a game of pool.

With the availability of warm and inviting indoor space, including an entire banquet hall within the villa, wedding parties need never worry about inclement weather. Chateau des Fleures also offers a bridal suite for the wedding party to prepare and freshen up before and during the wedding day. Couples may also opt to stay the night in a private room in the magnificent villa after the wedding, and even have breakfast in bed.

Chateau des Fleures can host 151-200 guests, includes a bridal suite and reception area, and is handicap accessible. Very few decorations are needed for this already gorgeous venue, and the venue staff has been praised by numerous couples for their helpfulness and excellent service.

Chateau des Fleures can handle 50 or more cars and offers overflow parking. The villa allows couples to choose their own vendors and offers a list of suggested vendors to meet all needs, including everything from florists to musicians. Guests are invited to roam the facility, appreciating the grand mansion and gorgeous grounds.
